A rare collaboration brings together Nordic purity and Japanese poetic design
SEES and the Japanese design house minä perhonen, considered a modern legend in Japan, are introducing a new product collection created to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of minä perhonen. The foundation of the collection lies in a series of handwritten stories by the brand’s founder, Akira Minagawa. These delicate, sensory narratives of light, quietness and fleeting moments in nature have been transformed by SEES into fragrances.
Minagawa is one of Japan’s most respected contemporary designers. His artistic and poetic approach has earned minä perhonen a devoted following in Japan and made the brand a valued collaborator for leading international companies. In this collection, his aesthetic vision meets Finnish nature and SEES’s expertise in pure, natural fragrances in a way that feels both unexpected and effortless.
The collection: two candles and a hand wash, all made in Finland
The new fragrance line includes two scented candles and a hand wash. Every item is made in Finland, using only natural ingredients. No synthetic additives have been used, and the intention is to offer products that feel genuinely uplifting and uncompromising in their purity. Aromatherapeutic benefits are part of each formulation, shaping not only the scent but also the mood each product creates.
The collection will be available in all minä perhonen stores across Japan as well as in both brands’ online shops.
During the launch period in Tokyo in November 2025, SEES and minä perhonen will host joint workshops where founders Akira Minagawa and Elisa Koivumaa share the story behind the collection. Minagawa will speak about the narratives that inspired the fragrances, and Koivumaa will guide guests in creating their own personal scent blend. Each participant will be able to compose a unique fragrance and experience how stories, nature and scent were woven into a single harmonious whole.
